Diet is very important for pregnancy. Preganant mother should get all the nutrion for development of baby. It is also important to eat right to give right nutrition to baby. In Ayurveda the focus is on three main things during Pregnancy. Aacharya Charak says Pregnant woman needs to fulfill three responsibilities and those are First is Swasharirpushti i.e. Nourishment of own body , Second is Stanyavruddhi i.e. preparing herself for lactation or mil production, Third is Garbhvruddhi i.e. nourishment for develoment of baby and growth of foetus.During pregnancy every cell of the mother’s body is being transformed,so there is an increased need of balanced diet with good nutritional value.
Importance of Diet In pregnancy
Pregnant woman body is experiencing a surge in hormones during first trimester which can lead to nausea. The hormone Progesterone in particular can trigger digestive discomfort, including constipation and reflux. So eating healthy is little bit complaining for mothers nausea and vomiting is present. so below is diet plan for first trimester .
1st month pregnancy: medicated/non medicated milk , sweet , cold, liquid diet. oil massage. during first month take milk according to your digestive power.
2nd month pregnancy:milk processed with sweet tasting herbs , liquid diet.
3rd month pregnancy: milk with honey and ghee, cooked shashtika rice with milk.
Fruits that to avoid during pregnancy : Papaya ,Pineapple.
Fruits that are safe during pregnancy:pomegranate,apple,pears,guava,bananas
Whole Day Plan
After waking up 7-7:30am first of all take Panchamrut , benifits of taking Panchamrut is that it gives energy , it nourishes body.
Breakfast : 8-9 am Take Poha , Upma, Daliya it provides iron and carbohydrates. along with this Take curd, paneer, Glass of milk. as milk and paneer provides calcium , vit. D , proteins. Those who dont have issues of constipation, nausea they can also have parathas, stuffed roti, multigrain vegetable sandwich.
Mid Morning meal: Between 10-11 am take lemon juice, kokum sharbat , seasonal fruits include in your mid morning meal . It contains antioxidants , vit. C, potassium. Kokum sharbat helps in iron absorption , imroves digestion ,reduces acidity , promotes hydration, you can also have buttermilk with pinch of black salt as it contains vit. b12 which help in absorption of iron.
MEAL/LUNCH : In lunch take 1 bowl of dal with 1 green leafy vegetable having wheat roti or multigrain roti , also take ghee rice or curd rice add lots of salad in every lunch and dinner.
DINNER: roti and sabzi with dal is perfect for dinner. If nausea is there then you can take vegetable khichadi along with ghee , mix grains roti or paratha can also be taken.

- DONT OVEREAT, EAT SMALL, EAT LIGHT FOOD
- TAKE TIME AND EAT SLOWLY,CALMLY .
- EAT FRESHLY COOKED FOOD WITHIN 2-3 HRS OF MAKING IT, DONT REHEAT.
- SEAT CLOSE TO EARTH ,EAT LOCAL VEGETABLES , SEASONAL VEGETABLES.
- NO PACKET FOODS ,FAST FOODS,SPICY, OILY FOODS.
